Dance - Interpreter

Sanguis

By Urs Dietrich

In February "Sanguis 2011" enjoyed a successful premiere in Essen. The dancers of the FTS and the Master's program in Dance displayed a new production of the choreography of Swiss dancer and choreographer Urs Dietrich. Dietrich, who himself studied at Folkwang, had premiered the dance evening 20 years ago with the FTS as part of the Recklinghausen Ruhrfestspiele. At the time it was with 10 dancers, and he staged the new performance with 15 dancers. Urs Dietrich chose the title based on the Latin word for blood: sanguis. "It's about life. About this juice which moves us and which sometimes brings us to a surge and sometimes makes us peaceful."
